Dr Phindile Shangase Profile

Senior Lecturer at the University of Free State, South Africa in the Faculty of Health Sciences. My current role involves academic leadership within the Department of Public Health. I hold a PhD in Public Health, with a special interest in smoking cessation as well as social determinants of health. I have been in Higher Education since 2011: teaching, supervision and research experience & also hold a Bachelor of Education degree, as well as other trainings in digital learning & learning analytics. Technology as well as co-teaching is the current passion of mine in the form of learning analytics, technology enhanced learning, including blended learning and multimodal pedagogies that contribute towards innovative and interactive teaching, learning & assessment practices. I am currently working on a project on learning analytics at a Masters level. My interest also extends to research projects that focus on digital learning in the form of creating virtual classrooms in order to share and create knowledge that will transform the curriculum in Higher Education towards inclusivity and decolonisation thereof.
